Overview
Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs)

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) are comprehensive assessments of a person's physical and/or cognitive abilities in relation to work and activities of daily living. Recognizing that function is influenced by more than physical and cognitive capacities alone, an FCE may additionally consider psychosocial and environmental factors that affect performance.
We offer both medical-legal and non-legal FCE options.

What to Expect
How long do FCEs take?
FCEs are booked as either a 1 Day or 2 Day.
- A 1 Day FCE is approximately 6 hours of testing
- A 2 Day FCE is approximately 9 hours of testing
We recognize that a full FCE is not always what is needed. In many cases, a shorter functional assessment focused on a specific question is more appropriate. These are called Work-Based Functional Assessments (WBFAs).
Whether the referral question is straightforward or complex, we tailor the scope of the assessment to match what is being asked, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach.
